Ive been in Finland for 3 months now. My failure had a big effect on me and I havent had the strenght to visit my blog. I think Im over it now, these things happen to everyone.

I havent been doing much this summer. I spent almost 2 months at our holiday house when our own house was being renovated. Im liking the new house... and even though Ive been back for like a month, I still have trouble using the new kitchen appliances. Especially the new oven. I must've looked funny today making dinner, staring at the oven with a manual in my hand.

I havent been myself much here, Ive been too homesick. I tried to ignore it and enjoy my time here but couldnt. Im leaving next week. Im happy 'cause Im going home but at the same time sad that Im leaving my host family, disappointed and mad at myself 'cause Im such a wussy. I had no idea I'd get so homesick. I was sick of finland and more than ready to leave everyone behind when I came here. Im such a disappointment, not just to me but to everyone else too. I feel really bad about this, bad about myself but you cant really block your feelings, can you? Im not really friends with myself at the moment.

Flu that wont go away.

Ive been ill for like a month now. It got worse and I spent almost a week in bed. Went to see the doctor last sunday and he gave me some antibiotics which have helped but Im still not completely healthy. Im rather low on energy, something simple like emptying the dishwasher makes me exhausted.

I miss my best friend. I havent talked to her for like 2 months and we used to talk almost every day. Its hard when you've got an 8 hour time difference. Havent made any australian friends yet, which is no surprise since Ive never had much finnish friends either. Luckily Ive been able to chat with some of my european friends so Im not completely isolated from all my friends.

Im still feeling more or less homesick. Ive been having nightmares about my cat. Her running away and found dead with her skin hanging off and all bloody. Horrible. Apparently she's doing good though so no need to worry.

Last weekend was rather busy, I had my wildlife carer basic training. Both days, from 8.30am/8.45am till 5pm. Got so much information that Ive forgotten most of it, luckily I have my notes and books. After the first day I was having a major headache from all the information and I was so tired by the time I went to bed that I forgot to set my alarm. I woke up around 3am the next night and realised that I forgot to set the alarm. I survived the weekend and now Im officially a Sydney Wildlife Carer. Woohoo.

Every day I feel a bit more at home here and I dont wake up during the night anymore, but Ive started to feel a bit homesick. I miss my cat, she's my everything. And I miss my grandma. Hopefully this homesickness will be gone soon..

Week 3 in Australia.

Another week in Australia. Ive been here for 3 weeks now. The children have their easter holidays so there's quite a lot of noise in the house most of the day. And little Boo Boo has been suffering from a flu for the past couple of days so she's been rather miserable and Ive been feeling bad for her. Me, being a rather emotional person, have had trouble trying not to cry with her. Luckily she's better now so I dont need to cry with her haha.
I think Im getting Boo Boo's flu. Ive been feeling rather cold for the past 2 days and have had heacache for 2 days in a row. I hardly have headaches normally.

Last weekend we visited the Blue Mountains. Ive never been to any mountains before. It was gorgeous, the view as magnificent. Unfortunately it was raining when we were at the three sisters rock.

Im not a good photographer and not that photogenic either so I usually try to stay away from cameras. But cant find anything to complain about that picture.

Another week in Australia. Im feeling a bit of an outsider quite alot. I know its all in my head, has always been. Ive been outsider most of my life, no matter where Ive been. And its pretty much my own fault since I dont wanna butt into other peoples conversations, I feel like Im intruding which is so not true I just cant seem to make myself to understand that. Probably because of the hell in high school. People keep telling me Im stupid to think like this but I havent been able to change the way I think yet.

The weather has been nice for a change. I wonder how long it takes before I get a sunburn. I normally burn rather easily.

Jetlag, rain and stomach virus.

Its been a week since I landed in Oz. My flights were nice, I got a better seat on the flight from London to Singapore than the one I booked, lucky me. Havent been so lucky on the ground though. Im still suffering from jetlag, Im tired through the day and wake up in the night and have trouble falling asleep. And I also had some kind of stomach virus at the start of the week, spent one night throwing up but luckily my stomach's fine now.

The family is lovely, the children are great not to forget the cute bird. We've been playing soccer, cricket, wii.. read some books. Crazy sport that cricket. I spent the first week recovering and getting to know the family.

Siita on viikko kun ma laskeuduin Australiaan. Lennot sujuivat hyvin, sain paremman istuinpaikan London-Singapore lennolla kun olin varannut, onnekasta. En ole ollut niin onnekas taalla maan paalla. Viela on jetlagia paalla, vasyttaa paivat ja oisin herailen enka saa heti unta. Mulla oli myos jonkinlainen vatsavirus alkuviikosta mutta onneksi se on ohi jo.

Perhe on ihana, lapset mahtavia unohtamatta suloista lintua. Olemma pelanneet jalkkista, krikettia, wii:ta.. luettu kirjoja. Hullu laji tuo kriketti. Kaytin ensimmaisen viikon palautumiseen ja perheeseen tutustumiseen.

It finally dawned to me last sat-sun night that Im actually leaving this week. I had so much on my mind last week that I hadnt realise that my departure is getting closer and closer. Im both nervous and excited at the same time.

Still need to de-worm my cat and give her manicure and pedicure haha. She's like a tiger with her claws, luckily she doesnt scratch me as much as she used to. She switched to biting which is fine by me since her teeth dont leave any marks.

Looking so innocent.. She's far from it haha.

Im feeling much better this week.. as long as I dont think about last week.

I have no brother.

Dont you just hate it when you trust someone with your whole life and you find out they've been using you?

I found out yesterday that someone's been lifting money from my bank account. A lot of money, thousands of euros. I spent most of the night crying, worrying someone stranger had copied my credit card and they've been stealing from me. This morning me and my mum visited the bank, tried to sort this out and they said that its a police matter. My brother, who has been getting money from me when I was not doing too well and was afraid to go outside myself claimed he had nothing to do with this. My mum started telling him that we need to know the truth before we go to the police 'cause if they found out it was him it would be in his criminal record... He confessed that he has a gambling problem and he's the one who's been stealing from me. My brother, my own flesh and blood, someone I trust with my whole life has been stealing from me for more than 5 000 euros. I flipped, how could he do that and even lie about it? I might've forgiven him if he would've confessed right away but Im not sure what to do now... Im so mad I could kill him. He's no brother of mine anymore. I know its a decease, the gambling problem, and he needs our support but Im just not able to support him after what he did to me. I cant even look at him. I should've called the police in the first place, he deserves to go to jail. I know I might change my mind later today or tomorrow but right now I hate him more than anything, Ive been crying and shaking for hours. He's worse than those bullies that ruined my life in school.

Just 23 days to go! Im so excited. Haha I'd love to find a sleeping pill that puts me to sleep till 25th. Nah, I need to put all my stuff into boxes and empty my room before leaving since we have some dangerous bacteria living in our walls and they're gonna knock them down in may-june and just because Im not here then doesnt mean that I can leave all my packing to my parents.

I was at the zoo yesterday. Was nice, the weather was alright.. just a wee bit too cold for my liking and the bears were still asleep.

Arent they cute? Tiny golden tamarins. They dont have that many snakes but that's alright.. I can always go to the tropical zoo to see snakes.

Flights and flu.

I finally have everything ready: vaccination, visa and flights. I decided to arrive in the morning. It's the best, I can enjoy the nice australian weather all day before heading to bed all exhausted and sleeping well haha. Havent seen the sun for a while and I miss it. Im not really fond of the coldness either.

Ive had a flu all week. It started on monday and today is the first day I feel like a human again instead of a zombie. Its been a while since Ive been this badly ill, it probably has got something to do with the vaccination. My immune defense must have been a bit low.

Im so excited. Cant wait! Im sure I'll get along well with my host family.

Preparations.

I got my visa couple of days ago. Brilliant! Now there's just the plane tickets. What time would I want to arrive in Sydney, early in the morning or around 8pm? Hard question... Im not sure if I'll be able to sleep in the plane so that's why the 8pm would be better but if I arrived next morning I'd be able to sleep well at night. I used to have problems with sleeping in a strange place so it would be good if I'd be exhausted the first night so I'd be able to sleep well.

Bought myself a suitcase today, they were 30% off. Its pink xD My new camera is light pink too haha. It seems that I have a pink season.. my phone is pink too lol. Thank god I dont wear all pink like I did when I had my black season years ago haha.

Its my bday tomorrow.. turning 22. I wanted to invite my uncle and grandma for coffee(well actually my grandma wanted me to invite them lol) but my uncle's still recovering from his drinking (he's kind of an alocoholic and he usually starts drinking around xmas and ends it in january/february and is sober for atleast a year) and my grandma doesnt have a car anymore so she cant really come by herself. Oh well, I'll invite them next weekend. Bday's suck...

Starting the journey.

I decided to start a blog about my au pair stay in Australia, for my friends and family, to read what Ive been up to.

My journey started by finding the host family. It took me months but Ive finally found the perfect family for me. They live in Gordon, Sydney and have 3 children and a bird. 2 of the children have mild CP. I feel like Im the luckiest person on the earth, 'cause I found such a nice family.

I got my visa application done which took a while since my brother had my credit card and I needed it to pay for the visa. Now I just need to wait for about 2 weeks to get my visa, lets hope I get it and nothing goes wrong. After I get the visa Im gonna order my plane tickets.

Im leaving sometime at the end of march and need to get some things done before that. My tetanus is expiring so need to get that before I leave. Gosh I hate needles. I also need to visit the bank to sort out some things with my credit card. Ohh I cant wait till the end of march!
